Meet the Owegoats

Lark

Lark is our herd queen. She started it all for us. We were lucky to connect with another New York farm who had sold all their doelings for the year. In conversation, we described what we were looking for in a doe to start our herd and a few months later were contacted about Lark. She’s not winning any beauty contest, but she’s the apple of our eye. Lark is a Purebred Nubian and is trained to give kisses for head pats and treats. She has the temperament of a saint. She is the girl who taught us, and our three year old, how to properly milk a goat. Lark is the perfect homestead girl. No fuss, a good mama, and the exact temperament we wanted as the foundation to our herd. Her favorite treats include watermelon and peppermints.

Lilac

Lilac is our little doeling who is growing everyday! She is a big puppy dog who will follow you around the pasture and will lean her full weight into you while she nibbles a shoelace to get your attention. She is an American Nubian and we can’t wait to see the lovely lady she grows up to be.

Shirley Chrisholm

Shirley is the most mild mannered doe you’ll ever meet. She is an absolute dream to milk with the most beautiful udder structure! She is our most patient goat and originally comes from Straw Pocket Farm in Lansing. Her favorite pastime is falling asleep while getting brushed. She will stand and patiently wait to be brushed after milking and usually falls asleep standing up!

Dori Jacobson

Dori has the strongest personality of all our does. She is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to milking and is our resident super producer. She can be feisty on the milk stand and is definitely a chowhound. In the stall and pasture she likes to stick close for head pets but she certainly is headstrong and knows how she prefers to do things! Dori also came from Straw Pocket Farm and is closely bonded with Shirley. You can often find them snoozing in the afternoon together soaking in the sun and humming!
